Words & Imagery by

Shenna Heard

Shenna’s work makes you feel something. By just looking at her images, you can feel the raw passion and emotion that goes into capturing these magic moments in time. Her photography is a mix of surf, lifestyle, adventure and portraits and her words are straight from the heart. We hope you enjoy sharing a moment with Shenna as much as we did. I believe the ability to travel was instilled in me from a very young age. Growing up I was lucky enough to have family who were always aiming to fit in that time each year to venture to a place they’d never seen before. Some of my best childhood memories are of the days spent hiking and camping in Wales in a caravan with my grandparents, and waking up to a view that would silence me, even as a child.

It’s that kind of silence that I long for every day.

Over this past year I have travelled from Cornwall, to my current destination, Australia and had a short adventure to the beautiful south island of New Zealand.

Photography has allowed me to remember the nature that flows throughout these places, where those beautiful moments that I am silenced continue to happen.

And as I sit in my home on wheels writing this, listening to the waves and the birds, I can’t shake off this urge to never stop moving. I don’t think I ever will, and with that I can’t help but wonder…

“How do geese know when to fly to the sun? Who tells them the seasons? How do we, humans, know when it is time to move on? As with the migrant birds, so surely with us, there is a voice within, if only we would listen to it, that tells us so certainly when to go forth into the unknown.” – Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
